BOOK REVIEW : THE PARIS LIBRARY BY JANET SKESLIEN CHARLES

Paris Library is a historical fiction based on the true story of brave librarians during WW2. The book follows two main POVs, one of Odile, who used to be a librarian at the American Library in Paris, and Lily, who is a teenager in Froid, Montana. Odile was happy getting her dream job and spending her time in the library helping people with book recommendations. Her life was almost perfect with a handsome police officer beau, a best friend who shared her love for reading. Then war comes calling, and everything perfect falls into despair. Her stable life gets swiped from under her leaving her disconcerted. With Jews getting discriminated…

BOOK REVIEW : HOME BEFORE DARK BY RILEY SAGER

Home Before Dark is my second book from Riley Sager. I read Lock Every Door last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved the author's writing and was fascinated by his style of storytelling. This story was no different. I am also excited about the arrival of my copy of this book from a book subscription box!! It was an alternate choice for a different book and I am so glad I picked this one. The whole ambiance of the book is the perfect setting for horror. The paranormal elements in the book within the book were brilliant. I did get scared at times, and I had a difficult time…

BOOK REVIEW : THE ONCE AND FUTURE WITCHES BY ALEX E. HARROW

The Once And Future Witches is my first book by Alex E. Harrow. I haven't read her debut novel, Ten Thousand Doors Of January. But I have seen a lot of raving reviews for it and, I knew I needed to check out her feministic story of justice and women's rights movements with witching to aid the cause. It is a story told from the perspective of the three Eastwood sisters, and we get to know them intimately through the novel as it unfolds. The three estranged sisters come together in New Salem at a suffragist's march, pulled by ancient witching. They want to make the fight for women's rights…

BOOK REVIEW : THE IMMORTAL WORDS (THE GRAVE KINGDOM #3) BY JEFF WHEELER

The Immortal Words picks up right from where the story left off in The Buried World. Bingmei is set out to accomplish her task of fulfilling the prophecy while having to escape both Echion and Xisi. The challenges that are in front of her keep on getting tougher with each step. She has to deal with her fear of death and also do something that will put an end to the era of cruelty and destruction brought forward by the reign of the dragons. The story was interesting and had raised the stakes higher with lots of fight sequences and near-death moments. The story and history are slowly unraveled and…

BOOK REVIEW : LITTLE FIRES EVERYWHERE BY CELESTE NG

I have heard so many good things about this book on booktube and have been wanting to read it for a while now. I picked this up when I was in the mood for literary fiction and I am pleased I finally got around to it. I saw the trailer featuring Kerry Washington and Reese Witherspoon as well. I don't know if I will ever get around to watching the movie, but I am so thrilled to finally talk about this book. The story, the characters, and the writing were the best in this book. It was so captivating and engaging that I couldn't put it down. The characters were…

BOOK REVIEW : THE HUNTER AND THE MAGE ( THE RAVEN AND THE DOVE #2) BY KAITLYN DAVIS

The Hunter And The Mage is the second book in this fantastic The Raven And The Dove series. When I got the chance to request for the ARC of this book I was beyond thrilled. I may have screamed a bit… The first book left me drained and so badly wanting to get back into the second book that I caught myself wondering what will happen in the coming books. Kaitlyn Davis doesn't shy away from putting her characters through her ringer especially her main characters. If you have read The Raven And The Dove, then you know what I am talking about! I had very high expectations for this…

BOOK REVIEW : THE BURIED WORLD (THE GRAVE KINGDOM #2) BY JEFF WHEELER

The Buried World is the second book in The Grave Kingdom series. The series is Chinese inspired with a fantastical world and a great cast of characters carrying the story forward. I read The Killing Fog, the first book in this series last year, and thoroughly enjoyed it. This series picks up from where the story left off in the first book. We follow Bingmei as she and her ensign is fleeing from Echion and his army of mercenaries. Kingdoms have fallen; Echion is raging war against anyone who dares to defy him. He is forcing Iron Rules on his subjects. Things are rapidly changing in the entire world. Echion…

    A LITTLE ABOUT ME

Hi, fellow Book Worms !! A hearty welcome to my blog. The quote above, with the addition of sleep in the mix pretty much sums up my goal in life. Being able to escape reality by immersing myself into the book is the best feeling I’ve ever experienced. That moment when you tune back into the world around you in a state of befuddlement and daze is hilarious. With my busy schedule in life, I have managed to be an expert at multitasking. I have also developed the art of doing things one-handed and walking around carrying a book without looking up, with a few measly injuries on the way.…
