BOOK BLOGGER CONFESSIONS!!

Book Blogger Confessions –

I am in the mood for another book tag today. So I thought why not do the book blogger confessions. The questions are pretty fun and I love doing these tags. As usual I was not tagged for this post, but I thought this would be an awesome tag to let my followers get to know me as a reader a little better. I am also celebrating 200 follows on my website ✨??? and thank you from the bottom of my heart to ever single one of you who have been with me on this journey. I am grateful for the support and the love you have given me. ??

Which book, most recently, did you not finish?

A Burning by Megha Majumdar is the book, I recently did not finish. I am still not sure, if I should fully DNF it yet. Maybe there’s still hope for this one..??

Which book is your guilty pleasure?

I really am not a fan of the term guilty pleasure. The term has gotten some bad connotations and there is also judgement on the books people read for pure entertainment or fun. I think people should be able to enjoy and read books without judgement regardless of the genre or the age group. If I have to name a book or series that I would read for fun and enjoy without any pressure, and I don’t feel guilty for enjoying them, then it would be kid’s books and ACOTAR series. Kid’s series mainly because I find myself wanting to read them for the imagery and the engagement it provides. It’s simplicity and genuine love for stories without pressure draws me in. This is not to say that they don’t have value in them or anything. I love them for the simple enjoyment and the stress-free moments that remind me of our childhoods.

Currently I am enjoying ACOTAR and so it’s the one that is fresh on my mind. I think it’s more of a romantic fantasy with amazing fantastical creatures and an elaborate world. There are elements in the book that I am not a huge fan of. I also believe it could be better and we can have more clarity on the magic system, fade-to-black scenes and get more banter and interactions than available in the book. For me personally, this is the kind of series I can pick up and binge-read because it’s fun, entertaining and simply addictive. Also the fandom has so many memes and entertaining content that makes it worth. The reading experience is so much more elevated by the fun environment the fandom has created.. It’s enjoyment without care that I seek in these books, especially when I am in a slump or depressed.

Which book do you love to hate?

I am not someone who likes to diss or hate on books. I think a book can be experienced differently by the people who read it. So if I personally didn’t enjoy a book, then it doesn’t mean I would stop people from checking it out.

Which book would you throw into the sea?

There was this one book by the name Killer’s Bible by Calvin Loch, that I read and had to DNF because, I couldn’t just continue it. It’s said to be an autobiographical account of a killer who has committed multiple crimes and is still on the loose because the authorities did not have any idea about his crimes. The author also send an email to the reviewers justifying and equating his crimes to another event where when the system failed, an ex-military man had to mete out justice on behalf of a victim. The book and the tone just rubbed me the wrong way. I don’t know what I was thinking when I picked it up. My intention was to read a book similar to True Crime genre but from the Killer’s perspective and understand the psyche of the person and what made the person do what he did. I would probably throw it into the sea.

Which book have you read the most?

I have read Harry Potter series and Enid Blyton series the most. I love those because , it takes me back to my younger self and just wanting to get that feeling back. Nowadays, I don’t have the time to reread entire books, but I do read certain passages or chapters from my favorite books to capture the same feeling I felt when I first read them.

Which book would you hate to receive as a gift?

Maybe a book with half-dressed people in it. I am not a fan of humans on the covers, and there are exceptions to this one as well. I also don’t think I would like to receive books in the erotica genre. No offense to people who like the genre, it’s just not something I want to read.

Which book could you not live without?

The Holy Quran would be the book I cannot live without. It’s an integral part of our lives and as I haven’t studied it byheart, I rely on the book to recite it daily.

Which book made you angriest?

The First Woman, The Exiles, and How Beautiful We Were made me angry at the situation the characters had to face because of prejudice, xenophobia, racism, and oppression. I hate when characters suffer and it’s mostly because of the people in power and their superiority complex.

Which book made you cry the most?

Khaled Hosseini‘s books, The Invisible life Of Addie LaRue, The Forty Rules Of Love, The Last Migration, Space Hopper, Away With The Penguins, Me Before You, Harry Potter books and so many more. I didn’t bawl my eyes out, but I still had tears in my eyes and I did get choked up quite a bit while reading these stories.

Which book cover do you hate the most?

I said this before, books with people on it are not my favorite. Also romances with people on the covers – NO THANK YOU !! NEXT !! There are some exceptions to these obviously. I love when covers are illustrations and I find them cute. Also instead of people on covers, I do prefer fanarts on them.
