MY TOP 5 BOOKS OF 2020

Here are my top 5 books from the year 2020. I am so happy to share them with you. Each of these holds a special place in my heart and have gotten promoted to my all time favorites as well. I found myself struggling to choose one book, and so I decided to pick 5 that will be forever etched in my heart and mind. Addie and Shamz has left a big hole in my heart and I don’t know if anything can fill it… ???

If you are a fan of VE Schwab, you need to pick this book up!! If you love beautiful and lyrical writing, pick this up!! If you are a fan of historical or literary style fiction stories with whimsical quality to it, then pick this up!! If you love slow-paced character-driven stories, then definitely pick this up!! This is one of those books, I wanted to take my time and savor every bit of it. There were so many thought-provoking quotes and heartfelt moments that made me emotional. I laughed, I cried, and I did not want the experience to end. I cherished this book and the story so much. I loved all the deeper questions that it made me reflect upon, and the beautiful writing just topped it all off for me. If you are looking for an epic-love don’t look for it here – but, if you are looking for an epic story that’s a celebration of life, love, art, and history, do read this book. I cannot recommend this enough. I absolutely loved this book. This is a cozy read that you can savor and enjoy while being curled up in your blanket with a cup of hot beverage.

This book was quite an engaging and interesting read. The story asks people to ponder and look deeper into themselves. It’s concepts urge us for introspection and are beneficial in a lot of ways in seeing things from a different perspective whether we agree with it or not.

This book has taken a place in my favorite books of all time. It also will be one that I would love to reread. It has me curious about Rumi and Shams and their life stories. I highly recommend checking it out if you love historical fiction and fiction that will make you think and assess oneself. This will also be interesting to people who are spiritual and are on a spiritual journey. Forty Rules Of Love is simply a magical reading experience that will stay with me forever. Shams has left a big hole in my heart and I am sad the story was over. The book is fascinating and it ties in concepts of religion, culture and spirituality so well. I highly recommend reading it.

I was heartbroken and shaken by the time I was through this book. Amy Harmon has done a fantastic job of drawing a rich portrayal of the trail, the people, and their experiences that you cannot help but feel for them strongly. I loved how wonderfully researched it was. The fact that some of the major players in this book are based on real people plus the author’s connection to John Lowry through her husband makes it even more special and extraordinary. The authentic and respectful portrayal of Native Americans and the settlers is very much appreciated. It helps us understand the conflicts and tensions that ran among the tribes and white people who settled on their lands. I felt that the honest and unbiased portrayal of the cultures and traditions of the Native American tribes added to the rich storytelling. I highly recommend checking this book out if you love a good, heart-wrenching story of love, loss, hope, and perseverance. This is a slow read and one that is bound to bring tears to your eyes. This will easily be one of my favorites in historical fiction novels.

I loved how V E Schwab wrote these characters to showcase the dark side of human beings and how they behave when they hold power. This book masterfully showcases human behavior and psyche when they are given power and the logic they come up with to support their actions. I really loved the whole anti-hero, villain theme exploration, and how the characters were just people who were doing bad things and accepted their villain status vs people who thought they were heroes because they were doing it for the greater good. The ideas around morality, religious extremism, and consequences of cheating death are very well explored adding captivating layers to the story. The book was deeply engrossing and I was hooked completely. The characters as I mentioned earlier were wonderfully written. All the side characters were given compelling storylines that added to their intrigue and helped me get a good read of them. this book was an exciting ride and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I would recommend this book to fantasy/science-fiction lovers who love the superhuman/x-men/super-hero style stories with a revenge plot.

I absolutely loved it and will be one of my favorite books of all time. The book was an emotional, heartbreaking and unforgettable journey that will tug at your heartstrings. It will grip your heart and pull it out and stamp all over it. The story of Amir and Hassan is so tragic and devastating that I was choked up about it majority of the time. I didn’t cry but was very close to losing control of my emotions. This is one of the best hard-hitting historical fiction I have read in a long time. This book was not just about tragic events but told us stories of friendship, loyalty and family ties. The shared moments of innocence and fun between Amir and Hassan were beautiful. The atmospheric writing, in-depth exposure of human emotions, lack of common decency in the face of war all tugs at our hearts painfully. I felt so many emotions while reading this book. The story was painful, powerful, and hopeful to the very end. A masterfully crafted story that will leave a mark on your life. This story is guaranteed to make you feel all of your emotions and then some. It is in my opinion of my favorite stories of all time. I highly recommend checking it out.
